The Arranged Love Marriage by Safina Khan Soudagar

Publication Date: July 2017

Blurb from Goodreads: The Arranged Love Marriage is a romance based novel which takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotions. Given below is the synopsis of the novel. ‘Miss, are you alright?’ That voice… Her tummy fluttered and her eyes flew open to clash with the deepest grey eyes ever. The buzzing of the phone stopped, and so did her heart. Saphira Varma, at twenty seven is well-established in her dream company and is happily single until her parent’s wish for her to settle turns her world upside down. Her heart is locked away, but a loveless marriage to a stranger might be just the thing to placate her parents. But as her past questions her present and threatens her future, she is uncertain. Will Saphira find the lost key? If you’re a challenge woman… I certainly accept. A business minded Sameer Malhotra hadn’t expected for an arranged marriage to land up on his to-do list. But he finds himself agreeing to just that. A girl of his parent’s choice might bring him happiness. He wasn’t sure until, he found himself feeling for a woman who was captivating and left him curious. Will Saphira’s past make this a one-sided love? Not if Sameer can help it. There will be a marriage, the question is, ‘What kind?’

Review:~

Cover Page: I loved it. It’s simple and minimalistic.

9/10

Plot: While the outline was good, I do think it could have been better. Some scenes were totally out of way. The pace was good, I liked how it didn’t skip things and just get on the thing.

8/10

Writing:

  • Such an irony, it’s dangerous to talk to strangers yet, it’s perfectly okay to marry one.
  • “Saphira always remember this honey, people change all the time. That is the way of life. Who you are today will be different from who you will be years down the line. You will be a different person with different responsibilities.”

9/10

Overall: So basically, as the tile says, it’s about an arranged marriage which was arranged at first but they fall in love before their marriage. I liked it. I like the concept. I liked the ambience author created. But I do think it would’ve been interpreted better. There are some scenes which are just, what one can say, awkward? irrelevant?

Second half of the book is much better than the first half. I liked it from there only. It had more suspense, passion, romance and of course marriage.

Characters were communicable. I find Saphira’s character genuine. She was something people go through every time when arranged in a marriage. While Sameer was also communicable but not more than her. The supporting characters were pretty good too.

I would recommend this book only if you’re into romance. If not, this book is not for you.
